Pizza the Great Motivator

I'm sure many of you may remember the "Book-it" program that Pizza Hut offers to schools as an incentive to get kids to read. Morgan is in the program this year.

October is the first month of the program for the academic year, and Morgan set a goal to read 5 books this month. These books are in addition to the books we read to her, and the book she reads to us at bed time.

A couple of days ago she choose a selection that was easy as pie. She had already read the book several times at bed time, but I let her count it on her chart and she dutifully wrote the title on her Goal Chart.

Today she read Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain. She has heard the book read before, but it is still a darn long book for her to read all in one sitting.  I saw her with the book this morning before I left for work. Later today, She came to her dad and told him that she'd read it and wanted to add it to her chart. He asked her to read it for him while he was cleaning up. She read the whole thing to him.

KapItI is proudly written on her goal sheet.

We better watch out, next month she may choose War and Peace!

Silly Things

These images will speak for themselves. (Lots of other things have been going on too. I don't have time to post things here and on facebook; so, just go over there to see some other cute pictures.)

Kenna Swims!

This is pretty amazing since just a couple of weeks ago, she was still clinging on to us and refusing to sit and jump from the wall unless we were holding her hand. She figured out how to swim 2 days ago. :) She's pretty proud of herself, as are we.

Morgan Rides a Bike

It's amazing how quickly babies become kids.

Morgan learned to ride her bike this week.

Do You Love Me?

Morgan's dance recital. I think my kid was the best dancer in the class. What do you think?

The final bow was quite a sight as well, but I don't want to steal the bandwidth of the universe with one dance recital.

Moxie Says

in English: Dad, drink, cup, dog, up (as in pick me up)

in ASL: milk, drink, dog, more, food/eat, up (as in pick me up), all done

In his own way, he can easily tell me to take him outside by leading me by the hand to the front/back door. If I don't comply, he puts my hand on the knob. If I still don't comply, he screams!

He recognizes his sisters' names and will look for them if we ask where they are. He also smiles hugely first thing in the morning as he crawls over me to hug his "da!" He lights up when he sees Morgan and hugs her - as long as she doesn't hug him too hard.

He plays chase and tickle with Kenna - he likes being the tickler and the ticklee.

Spring Time is Here

Peaceful morning, but I'm still wondering how Michael and I even fit on the bed.

A whole new meaning for spooning.

These two beauties found the geocashing with their dad.

It's spring, and time to give you a few more glimpses of my beautiful children.

I hope to post more often and more interesting material this summer when I'm not working, but hopefully Actually, I'm hoping to be too busy playing to post.

Happy Birthday Moxen!

Although this picture is from a few days ago, you can see he's got his own style!

Dust-to-Dust

My friend in South Carolina, Serenity, recently passed away; however, in her burial she made another statement of who she is and what she believes.

Her USA Today News story.

This is ridiculous

Ok, I just looked at my blog to see exactly how far behind I am. WOW! I can't believe it has been so long since I posted.

Moxen took 4 steps to me this morning. Last time I posted he couldn't even crawl!

The girls are great and had a good Christmas. I think their favorite gifts were a mini (exercise sized, indoor) trampoline and barbie dolls (courtesy of Mike's brother and sister-in-law).

More at some less chaotic part of our lives.
